About Maurice

Maurice brings a wealth of experience in employment law, municipal law and civil litigation to the clients of the Firm. Maurice served as City Solicitor for the City of Springfield, where he handled a wide range of municipal issues and currently serves as Assistant City Solicitor specializing in Labor Relations. Maurice continues a long tradition of Firm lawyers serving the City of Springfield.

Maurice had the unique opportunity to argue a landmark age discrimination and ERISA (Employee Retirement Income Security Act) case, Hazen Paper Co. v. Biggins, 507 U.S. 604 (1993) before the United States Supreme Court. He has argued numerous cases in the Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, the First Circuit Court of Appeals and has tried many cases in the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts, at the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination (MCAD), and at the Division of Labor Relations.

He is past President of the Atwater Park Civic Association, the Notre Dame Club of the Pioneer Valley, and serves on the Financial Council of Sacred Heart Church in Springfield.
