About Richard

Having been named a partner at EFC in 2012, Richard is proud of his affiliation with the law firm and came back in 2020 to continue providing legal guidance and support to individuals, families and businesses throughout the Pioneer Valley  – with irreproachable integrity - in the areas of:

He has been recognized for his accomplishments through the Thomas More Society, Polish Center of Discovery and Learning Recognition Award, Community Leadership Award, Chicopee Rotary Club’s Paul Harris Honor, Greater Chicopee Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year, Chicopee Senior Center and the Chicopee PTA.

Richard had an illustrious career in both private and municipal practice before joining the firm in 2004.  He served generations of families with their estate planning needs and supported both small business owners and recognized business leaders with general and specialized business planning practices.  He worked with property owners on both small and complex legal issues and he also worked with numerous cities and towns throughout Western Massachusetts on municipal matters.

Richard has provided invaluable business direction throughout his career including while having served as Chair of the Board of Directors of Hampden Bank as well as serving on boards of both charitable and business institutions, including:  Elms College, MassHire Workforce Board, Greater Chicopee Chamber of Commerce, Mason Wright Foundation, Economic Development Council of Western Mass, Providence Place, Pioneer Valley Red Cross and the Westover Metropolitan Development Corporation.

With seven terms, in two administrations, as Mayor of the City of Chicopee, Richard provided unparalleled leadership to the second largest city west of 495.  He is credited with building two high schools, a library, a fire station and insuring the city with financial security.  He left office in 2020 having prepared Chicopee to welcome several new housing and business initiatives.

Throughout his career, whether working in the public or private sector, Richard has been a leader in our community.  His steadfast involvement in local charities and with business organizations and professional associations is a testament of his continued loyalty to his hometown of Chicopee and its neighboring communities.

Richard attended Chicopee Public Schools and then graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Amherst College.  He received his Juris Doctor from Suffolk Law School.
